Help Pass the Michigan Pink Plate License Plate

The Pink Ribbon License Plate Bill is stuck in the legislative process.  We need your help to get this bill in front of the Michigan Senate for a vote.  Please send your letters on how Breast Cancer has affected your life and Senator Anderson will deliver them to your Senator the week of Mother's Day to bring attention to this important cause.  You can send your letter by email to senatoranderson@senate.michigan.gov or by mail to:

Senate Bill 389 would create a "Pink Ribbon" license plate. This bill will provide for the development of a fund-raising license plate benefiting the Michigan Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program. The bill was welcomed with overwhelming, bi-partisan support and has been co-sponsored unanimously by all 38 sitting members of the Michigan Senate. Senate Bill 389 is the only bill to receive co-sponsorship of all sitting members in over 10 years.

This program provides low-income women throughout Michigan access to life-saving cancer screening services and follow-up care, including cancer treatment if needed. Through this program, breast and cervical cancer will be identified at earlier stages, when treatment is less expensive and the chances of survival are much greater. All revenue generated through the issuance of this license plate will greatly increase the number of women that this program is able to screen. The $15,000 start-up cost for the plate was raised privately by Senator Anderson so no tax dollars were used.

Please consider helping to pass this great legislation.
